At least 61 .lol domains and 17 domains ending in '-bid' appeared within two days, all running the same paid leaderboard mechanic. Users pay to rank higher than competitors on a directory. The sites were first seen by us between 22 August and 24 August.
The revenue figures being claimed vary wildly. BuildBid reports $304 MRR. HiveBid claims $19 MRR. Aurabid.now lists $97 in the last 30 days. Ecombid.io claims $526 in the last 30 days. Most sites report $0 MRR, and the figures are marked as verified or TrustMRR-listed with no explanation of what either term means.
The swarm includes variations on the mechanic. One site, 2048bid.lol, asks users to rank their product by playing the game 2048. Another, outmap.lol, describes itself as a live map of 235 countries where anyone can place a link. Gangbid.lol was posted with the question "How much time should be spent marketing a website that can be built in 45 minutes?"
None of the sites cleared the front page. The signal is the cluster, not any individual post. The sources do not name an origin site or explain who built the mechanic being copied.
