Dylan, founder of Gojiberry AI, says his company passed $4 million in annual recurring revenue within a year and was accepted into Y Combinator, the startup accelerator. On X, he wrote there's "no magic distribution channel" behind that growth. Instead, he says the company moved through channels in order, tied to how much monthly recurring revenue it had. From $0 to $6,000 in monthly recurring revenue, he says the approach was "pure outbound. Cold email + LinkedIn, using our own early product on ourselves. No brand, no audience, just us reaching out to peo", the post cuts off there.
A separate post from an account called romanbuildsaas describes a different push for the same company: user-generated content, short marketing videos made to look like organic posts, on Instagram and TikTok. That account says the campaign has generated more than 2 million views combined across the two platforms. It also says the company closed a team that found Gojiberry directly through TikTok, and that whenever a video spikes in views, Google Search Console, the tool that shows what people search before landing on a site, shows a matching spike in searches for GojiberryAI.
That pairing sits uneasily next to the founder's own claim. Cold email and LinkedIn outreach are things one person can run alone. A user-generated content push producing 2 million views across two platforms, with a dedicated account tracking the results, is not the same kind of effort, and it is not obviously something a solo builder can replicate without paying for it or building a team to run it.
Dylan's post drew 621 likes and 40 comments; romanbuildsaas's drew 109 likes and 49 comments. Neither post's replies are quoted here, so what commenters actually said about either claim is not part of this report.
What isn't clear from either post is the order these channels ran in, cold outreach first, user-generated content later, or whether the two ran side by side. Which one it was would tell a builder something different about when to add a paid content push on top of manual outreach, and when the manual approach stops working on its own.
